Rounding Off With A Portuguese Podium

Ryan joined forces with Sam Allpass once more to contest the final round of the VdeV Championship at Estoril. This was Ryan's first visit to the Portuguese circuit, having only 'driven' it before on a playstation! However, it didn't take long for Ryan to soon feel at home on the circuit which boasts two hairpins, elevation changes and a super long pit straight, all in all an ideal place for the Juno to show its pace.

Ryan and Sam were soon on that pace, never dropping out of the top ten on the timing sheets in a round that once again had over 60 entrants.

"It took just a lap to dial into the circuit" said Ryan afterwards, "and it's a great circuit to drive as it is very flowing. The Juno had great pace and with their excellent endurance record I was certainly optimistic we could have a good run at it".

Ryan and Sam qualified in 10th position. Sam started the race and had an excellent strong stint before handing over to Ryan. The two of them soon lifted the car to 2nd place, taking over 1st momentarily during pit stops - the race was truly on!

A problem with a refuelling tanker meant that not all cars were able to refuel and although all the main contenders had refuelled, the race officials felt it prudent to halt the race. After consulting team bosses, the race organisers decided to count back to 2.26 pm which meant that 4 hours 6 minutes of the race had been completed and reported the race positions at that time.

Ryan and Sam took 2nd position and a first VdeV podium for both of them. "It was an exciting and challenging race to drive in " said Ryan. "To take the podium was great both. My thanks go to Sam and the entire Juno Racing team for a superb weekend which saw the team and Rob (Croydon) take the VdeV Championship. The title is very much deserved and a credit to the hard work they all put in. The VdeV is a very good series. With a UK VdeV Championship next year it will be interesting to see it develop and its especially encouraging to see a British team so competitive".
