Ryan Hooker (Upminster, Essex) had a successful 12Hour race when he joined British team Juno Racing for the 4000km of Magny Cours.
Ryan teamed up with Sam Allpass and James Swift for the race which started at Midday at the famous French circuit which hosts the F1 Grand Prix, and went into the darkness hours with the chequered flag falling at past midnight.
For Ryan this was a welcome return behind the wheel of the Juno SSE-CN, the impressive sports prototype suited to the fast French circuit.
Ryan started the race for the team from 20th position on a grid that boasted 60 cars! In his first two hour stint he made up nine places, ready to hand over to team-mate Sam Allpass. Ryan's second stint came at past 6pm and darkness some came in.
"That was probably the best night racing I've ever experienced" said a thrilled Ryan afterwards. "Driving a car like a Juno in the night section, well it really gets the adrenaline pumping!".
The car raced as high as 3rd though in the darkness a brake problem became obvious even to those outside the car as the brake pads glowed! A lightening quick brake pad change was in order and the they battled back to a 5th place finish, tantalising close to a podium finish.
Ryan was very pleased with the race and was full of praise for the team. "The team rang like clockwork" said Ryan afterwards. "All the team was so passionate and fired up, it was a real pleasure to join them and I wholeheartedly thank them for their efforts. It is unbelievable to believe this is only their second 12Hour race, they ooze professionalism."
Indeed, the Juno pit had plenty to cheer about with the win being taken by Rob Croydon and Adrian Mardlin in a Juno.
