Ryan headed over to Spain to take part in the opening round of the VdeV Championship with Juno Racing.
Juno fielded three Juno SSE-CN cars, Ryan being partnered with Formula BMW graduate Ross Curnow whilst the others were driven by the established partnership of Adrian Mardlin & Rob Croydon and sister-brother partnership Nicola and Richard Bernans.
Ryan has driven the Juno chassis before but this was the first time he had driven it powered by a 3l engine and it proved as exciting as he expected.
"The speed into the corner was immense" commented Ryan afterwards. "The Juno handles exceptionally well."
The circuit was also new to Ryan and as many others have commented he found Jarama to be challenging.
"It really is a driver's circuit" said Ryan. "There are very few opportunities for overtaking and it has some extremely tight and twisty corner combinations. It was great fun to drive and a track which requires your top concentration all the time."
Ryan and Ross proved to be quick and in an event boasting a grid of over 40 cars they qualified in an exciting 12th position so hopes where high for the race.
Sadly those hopes were to be dashed early on. Ross started the race and 20minutes into his stint was involved in a race incident which saw a premature end to their challenge.
"It was disappointing not to get on track for the race" Ryan said, "Especially as Ross was running in 8th place and we knew the reliability and pace of the Juno was right up there as proved by Adrian and Rob who went on to take a marvellous win. A case of unfinished business for me so I hope to be able to be back behind a Juno wheel in the future!"
And Ryan was full of praise for the VdeV Championship. "This is the first time I have been to the VdeV and found it very well organised and a colourful and friendly series."
