Ryan Hooker Wins The Final Race of The Season...as his Title Remains To Be Confirmed
After Saturday's news that Phil Keen's appeal over the Brands Hatch incident was accepted and upheld, thus reinstating himself and Ryan into 2nd position of the Brands second race, the top of the GTC Championship table saw Ryan enter the final race at Silverstone level on points with Jonny Lang/Matt Allison.
As Crash.net noted with excitement "The fight for the title will therefore become a 'winner takes all' fight between the Hooker in the #3 car and Allison and Lang in the #5 at Silverstone"
With Ryan once more ably partnered by Phil Keen the #3 Trackspeed Porsche made a strong start to their weekend's campaign. They qualified fourth in class, a place ahead of title rivals Lang & Allison with the title showdown set to be as exciting as predicted.
The two hour race was started on a drying Silverstone track and from the outset the #3 and #5 cars were always within a hair's breadth. It was two hours of holding your breath but as the last twenty minutes drew in Phil Keen edged away from Matt Allison who dropped behind the RPM Porsche of Mortimer & Ellis.
Phil and Ryan took a well deserved win from Mortimer & Ellis in second and Lang & Allison in third. With the win it was a moment of joy as it appeared Ryan had secured the title. However, with the non-appearance of Lang & Allison during the podium presentation it was later learnt that the Brands Hatch appeal had itself been appealed to the MSA.
So we currently wait in limbo. Whilst we have no clear cut time table we can give you at this moment, the decision may be in the region of two weeks. As you can imagine this is a bitter pill and whilst we should be celebrating, if nothing else ,a superb win by Ryan and Phil this weekend instead it is a waiting game.
