Ryan Hooker Aims For British Title

Ryan Hooker Signs with Trackspeed to Contest the 2006 British GT3 Championship

Ryan Hooker (Upminster) has signed to contest the British GT3 Championship with Trackspeed behind the wheel of a Porsche 996 GT3. Ryan, who raced with the team at the Vallelunga Gold Cup last November scoring an impressive class win, will contend the series alongside Team Principal, David Ashburn in the eight round championship.

"This is a marvellous opportunity for me" says Ryan, "in a championship contending car. Having worked with Trackspeed at the end of last season I saw first hand the dedication and promise of the team so am very proud to join them for their assault on the British GT3 series."

Having raced a variety of sportscars and prototypes in 2005, the stability of a dedicated British GT3 campaign is a great bonus for Hooker but also sees him return to the Porsche marque.

"I have long wanted to race a Porsche GT3, an exceedingly popular racecar, but it is in Trackspeed that I feel I have found the right team to be able to do that" notes Ryan. "When I first began my track racing career it was in a Porsche 924 , and in 2002 I won the Porsche 924 Championship, so it is fair to say there is some sentimentality there for the Porsche name in my mind!"

Trackspeed will enter the highly competitive British GT3 series with a three car team under the guidance of new Team Manager, and reigning British GT3 Champion, Piers Masarati.

"It is a great sounding board to have the reigning champion as your team manager!" says Ryan, "He his able to see the process through a driver's eyes and when setting up the car we can really bounce ideas of each other."

Ryan will now join the Trackspeed team an intensive test schedule, including time in Spain, before the first race of the season at Oulton Park in April.
