Dijon VdeV
Top Step on the Podium
4th July 2011
Ryan and Derrick headed to Dijon to compete in round 4 of the european endurance v de v championship and looking to get the monkey finally off their backs and get a first podium of the year.
Testing went well, with tweaks to the set up of the car making good gains and not dropping outside the top 4 - which meant a solid qualifying session was on the cards.
Derrick went first in qualifying and did a great job in registering a time good enough for 12th on the grid, then handing over to Ryan who only had 2 clear laps managed to qualify a very competitve 6th on the grid.
Race day saw Ryan start the race and run in 6th position right up to the half way point, where a safety car was released due to two cars stopping which then triggered mayhem in the pits as everyone tried to do driver changes and re-fuel. The number 45 Ligier decided to stay out a few extra laps before pitting, which proved to be crucial, as Derrick rejoined in a comfortable 4th place overall and went on to produce a fantastic drive and bring the car home after 3 hours in 4th place overall and winners of their class.
A super weekend all round!
