28 September 2009

Ryan Hooker and Derrick Collin had another strong outing in the VdeV motor racing championship when they took 4th place in the 3 hour race held in Ledenon, France.

Ledenon VdeVDriving the Norma sports prototype, the pair were strong throughout the weekend. They finished 2nd in Friday's practice session which provided some good feedback and valuable track time. When it came to Saturday, even a stone causing a puncture during qualifying couldn’t stop them taking a healthy 6th on the grid.

Ryan took the wheel for the start of the race, making a superb start which saw him take the lead by the third corner! He kept the lead despite coming under continual pressure from the Championship leader, handing over to Derrick after 1 hour 50 minutes of hard racing. The final stint was a tough task for Derrick as this is not only his debut season in the series but this was his first time at the Ledenon. He put in a great effort on the very technical and tough circuit to bring the team home in 4th for more Championship valuable points.

Ryan at Ledenon“The car was very strong this weekend” said Ryan. “The circuit is very challenging and I am pleased with our pace. We have a 100% finishing record so far, always top 10 and a podium finish at Lausitz. That’s a great set of statistics in our first year and very encouraging”

The final two events in the VdeV season are both 6 hour races so are tests of both driver and car endurance. The first is at Magny Cours, France on 25 October and the season ends at Estoril, Portugal on 22 November
