HOOKER FINISHES THE SEASON WITH A TOP TEN HIT

Fresh from his 2nd place Championship in the 2008 VdeV UK series, Ryan Hooker (Upminster, Essex) was in action in his final race of the season in Estoril, Portugal where he partnered Sam Allpass in the Juno SSE-CN for the last race of the VdeV EU series.

The duo were in good form in the fine Portuguese weather and their pace in testing was encouraging. It was a packed grid with over 55 cars entered and the pair were a little disappointed to qualify in 30th, their lower placing due to the addition of a time penalty for a pit lane speeding infringement.

Sam started the 6 hour race and put in a solid first stint to raise the car to 14th place before handing over to Ryan for the middle stint. Ryan had a great run bringing the car up to 4th place before handing back over to Sam for the home run. Sadly the last stint saw the need for an unplanned pit stop to bleed the brakes but the pair still managed to take 7th place.

"I was pleased we finished the year with another strong top ten finish" said Ryan afterwards. "We were knocking on the door of the podium for a while but a last minute brake problem set us back but that doesn't take away from a great effort this weekend."

The previous weekend Ryan attended the VdeV UK Awards dinner where he collected his trophy for 2nd in the Championship in a year that saw him with a 100% finishing record in the series including two podium finishes.
