HOOKER & COLLINS DRIVE INTO ANOTHER TOP TEN

Ryan Hooker & Derrick Collins Take 10th At The 3rd Round Of The VdeV Championship.

Ryan Hooker (Upminster, Essex) and driving partner Derrick Collin took their third top ten finish in three races at the latest round of the VdeV Championship. Held at Val De Vienne, France the pair at the wheel of the Norma prototype enjoyed what was a new circuit to both of them.

A slight temperature issue in the car’s engine compromised the duo over the weekend though some quick thinking from the able Norma UK team ensured they were on track and able to finish the 3 hour race which was held in blistering sunshine.

Having qualified in 11th, Derrick started the race which was his first race start in the VdeV Championship which always boasts good grids. As a newcomer to the series Derrick put in an able first stint, though like many of the competitors he had a couple of hiccups on a circuit that Ryan summed up as ‘fiddly but fun’!

Ryan raced the final 1 hour 35 minutes of the race and despite worries of the raising temperatures was still able to put in competitive times and move up the rankings. Crossing the line in 10th, and collecting more points, Ryan was pleased they were able to cement the finish.

“We had some minor niggles” said Ryan afterwards, “but thankfully the team made some quick thinking changes to prevent any major problems!”

Ryan’s next race is at the end of June in the epic 8 Hours race of Lausitz in Germany.

“Lausitz is going to be a great challenge” says Ryan looking forward to the longest race of the VdeV Season.
