HOOKER & COLLINS PLAN FULL SEASON OF VdeV

Ryan Hooker & Derrick Collins To Contest The VdeV Season In A Norma

Ryan Hooker (Upminster, Essex) will partner Derrick Collins (Whitby, Yorkshire) in the 2009 VdeV Championship, fielding the ex-Balfe Norma. 29 year old Hooker, 2nd in the 2008 VdeV UK series, has contested selected rounds of the VdeV over the last two years but this marks his first full season in the Championship. For Derrick Collins, who has previously raced series including Formula Palmer Audi and the Spa 25Hrs Fun Cup, this will be his debut in VdeV.

A private entry, the car will be run by Norma UK and the team and drivers have returned from a successful pre-season test in France. Good weather and a busy track gave the team ample opportunity to shakedown the car and the drivers some race like track scenarios.

“The car didn’t miss a beat” reported back Ryan. “The team have made a great job of preparing it and applying a couple of upgrades in a short space of time. Both myself and Derrick found it very easy and comfortable to drive and therefore perfect for such an endurance series.

“Our goal for the season is consistent finishes, a feat which can be rewarded by a top three spot at the end of the season if you look back at previous years.”

The duo may also compete in selected rounds of the UK SPEED series (formerly VdeV UK), to be confirmed at a later date.

Their first VdeV outing is in the next fortnight at the opening round at Jarama, Spain on 21-22 March where they will be sporting a new black and red livery.
